A moment frozen in time

I recently ventured out to a secluded location on the Elbow River, near Stampede Park in Calgary, with photographer Ramsey Kunkel and my long-time friend Heather Petrie Hill in tow. We were going on a photo shoot for a new single, soon be released along with a flurry of other songs that we’ve been working on.

We thought an image of a woman angelically dressed – white skirt and a top with a print of a humming bird (to hide a wetsuit) – floating just below the surface of the water might be a good visual to go along with the song. It seemed like a good idea at the time … until I got cold feet. Well, cold everything, for that matter!

Although the wetsuit kept my core warm underneath the white, flowy garb (I also came armed with a recovery drink of tea), nothing prepared me for this! The water was faster and much colder than expected, and the minus 6 C temperature and wind chill didn’t help matters.

However, we persevered – Ramsey much better than I (he must have ice in his veins). He even caught me as I floated downstream like an iceberg off the coast of Newfoundland.

Here is one of the photos Heather took from that photo shoot – the moment that I was frozen in time. For more photos from the day, visit my photo gallery.

Stay tuned for more on my latest tunes!
